Stock Status:(Out of Stock)

Also called the purple pitcher plant, this species produces stout, tubby pitchers that turn from green with red veins to deep purple in heavy sunlight. Unlike other American pitcher plants, purple pitcher plants collect rain water rather than producing their own digestive juices. Purple pitcher plants have lower light requirements than other pitcher plants, and also maintain their pitchers through their dormant season.

The photograph is of a mature plant.

This plant will be shipped bare-root with a 3" plastic pot and enough top-quality New Zealand long-fiber sphagnum moss to fill it. Planting and growing instructions will also be included.
Product Details
Grow in full sun and keep the soil wet at all times. Like other American pitcher plants, these will go dormant in the winter and re-emerge in the spring.

Looked super cool when it arrived, and it already has some young pitchers starting to grow!
