Sarracenia purpurea var. montana is very hard to come by, and is rarely seen in collections. The mountain purple pitcher plant is native to the Appalachian mountains of the Carolinas and Georgia. The pitchers of S. purpurea var. montana are short and compact with attractive dark red veins. It is best to protect these plants from extreme heat during the summer as they are from the mountains, where it is slightly cooler. This particular strain S. purpurea var. montana is an F-1 cross from plants found in Transylvania Co, North Carolina.

Excellent small plant April 25, 2017

I ordered a small S. purpurea spp. montana and received a very nice pretty little plant of a form that is hard to come by.  I was even informed of the plant's origin and given some special care instructions, which was very nice.  I am well pleased with my order.
