Description

Cephalotus follicularis, also called the Australian pitcher plant or Albany pitcher plant, is perhaps the most desired carnivorous plant. It grows in compact rosettes of extremely complex, hearty pitchers that develop deep red coloration in heavy sunlight. They are very slow-growing, and are more difficult to successfully grow than most other carnivores. However, for an experienced grower, this is an extremely rewarding plant.

These plants will be shipped in a 1" moss plug with a 3" pot and enough high quality New Zealand long-fiber sphagnum moss to fill it.

Product Details
Cephalotus can be grown in partial to full sunlight. They can be grown outdoors in most mild climates, on a sunny windowsill, or in a terrarium under artificial lights. The soil should be allowed to dry-out slightly between waterings.

Cephalotus March 10, 2016

I was initially hesitant to try Cephalotus due to a reputation for difficulty, but it settled in very well alongside my cool growing orchids.  I've been growing under LED lights with daytime temps ranging from 68-78 F and night temps ranging from 50-58 F.  I water lightly with low TDS water (25-70 PPM) about 5 days a week.  In less than 6 months it has put out at least 10 new pitchers with several that are over twice the size of the largest that were there at time of delivery.

Even though My mail service got it here in 6 days my ceph was healthy enough that I think it will be fine. I'm still waiting for it to settle in. I'll update once I see new growth.

Akai Ryu and Cephalotus May 21, 2015
Reviewer: Kyle Nakamoto from Honolulu , HI United States
The packaging held really well and though the akai ryu venus fly trap plants looked a little stressed, a quick transplant and a lot of sunlight quickly revived them.  The most amazing was the excellent condition of the cephalotus!   The double pot and padding did not allow any plant media to spill and it was easy to let the pitcher plant to recover in it's own pot instead of needing to transplant them.  I will definitely be a frequent customer and I will recommend anyone that has an interest in carnivorous plants to try Predatory Plants first.  Mahalo, kyle.
