Description

A favorite among collectors, Darlingtonia californica (also called the cobra plant) is a charming and fascinating plant. While Darlingtonia californica are closely related to Sarracenia, their bulbous, semi-transparent hoods put them in another class. As their name would imply, Darlingtonia californica are native to California where they mostly grow in pine-bogs fed by cold runoff water.

These are fully established, seed grown plants from an "inland population" of plants in Josephine County, Oregon. Many are large enough to produce stolons this year, which can separated from the mother plant during the winter dormancy period to create more plants! These vigorous seedlings being offered have extensive, healthy root systems with between 8-10 compact pitchers on them.

It arrived in great shape and was well packaged.  It went into shock after being planted, which might just be how they work after being bare rooted (I've only ever grown them from seed before).  Not sure its going to make it in the end, but only time will tell.  The only plant I ordered, I am not sure I would recommend to others to purchase this way.

Great Plant May 22, 2015

The Darlintonia I received was a nice sized specimen.  The bonus Sarracenia I received was an unexpected surprise.  Both are very nice plants.
